Since spring 2024, Silt has been a landmark on the Belgian coast. On the spot where the old casino of Middelkerke had its heyday in the 1980s, the new remarkable building now houses not only a new casino, but also a hotel, restaurant and events hall. The location and position of Silt are definitely unique, because located on a spur of the seafront, it seems as if the water is reaching the foot of the building.

We were responsible for the interior design of an area of 3,000 m2 and six floors, both the hotel with 74 rooms and of the wellness area with sauna and hammam and the (breakfast) bar. We started from casco, determined the general organisation and flow of the spaces and developed a concept celebrating the sea and tranquillity.

Austere luxury is what defines this project. The interior – at times with a sacred feel, at other times a sophisticated reflection of the surroundings in materiality and shades – welcomes Silt’s guests in a warm and homely atmosphere. A nice bonus, although very obvious to us: from every vantage point you have a view of the sea. You can even enjoy this magnificent view towards infinity when taking a shower or a bath. Our ultimate and only goal at all times: to serve the panorama.
A fine detail is the bespoke lighting, which as a design combination of steel and ceramic represents a candlelit torch in the rooms. After all, it is part of our DNA to let light prevail, in whatever capacity and at whatever time of the day.
